The Africa Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP) in collaboration with IBIS Ghana is holding an international conference on resource taxation with the theme: unlocking Africa’s development, blocking extractive sector revenue leakages. The objectives of the conference are:

a.     To increase the advocacy capacity of civil society organizations in the area of resource taxation

b.     To identify the weaknesses in resource taxation regimes of Africa’s resource rich countries

c.     To understand mechanisms for preventing tax revenue losses through capital flight

d.     To initiate discussions on the establishment of Africa Regional Civil Society Platform on Extractives and secure common understanding on the formation and operation of the platform

e.      To make a resolution to African leaders on efforts that should be made to ensure effective resource taxation for development financing

The conference will be held in Accra, Ghana on 27th and 28th February 2014, at Mensvic Hotel, East Legon, Accra at 9 am.
